PostSubject: from Dubbo   Wed Apr 21 2010, 12:55

Hi Folks,

I met Mick (Baiazid) at Fraser's Motorcycle and he gave me a card for NSW Riders. We were both having our bikes serviced. I have moved with my family from Broken Hill to Dubbo about 18 months ago. Been riding a Vmax with a Side Car attached ever since October 07 due to loosing my right leg above the knee in September 06. An oncoming driver had a heart attack 30km west of Nyngan changing life from a biped existence to that of a monopod. A couple of weeks ago I took delivery of a new Ducati 696. I am now once again on two wheels, which has been exciting and a goal achieved. Now all that is required is that I don't fall over when stopped.
Anyway, glad to meet new people and get out for some rides when I can.
Russ

Per my PM, credit to you for attempting and fulfilling your goal and welcome.

Don't worry about falling over when stopped. Happens to us all lol.

Welcome to forum Russ.
We have a saying: what is not killing us, is making us stronger.

Just an idea, so do not start throwing bricks at me please:
I have noticed members away from Sydney.
We should organize chapters (
* Sydney chapter
* Waga Waga chapter
* Dubbo chapter
* ...
The idea is to promote safe rides around NSW.

Most of the rides are in Blue Mountains area and is totally inaccessible for riders from other areas. Would be nice that those bikers to organize rides close to them.

Only an idea ...
Kris and Ed will have to promote it, if is accepted of course

Hi and welcome Russ, there are good riding roads around Dubbo, been a while since I was out there. I have a mate who is back riding after losing a leg, you are both inspirational!

Sounds good, just don't know how we would structure it. Anybody is welcome to post up a ride event and if a Dubbo member wanted to post up a Dubbo ride etc, he could and then people could join him if they so wish. I'd rather all the rides be in 'one section' ie planning or group rides, to avoid it being overlooked by someone. We can talk further about it Mick.

Have a look at http://www.vulcanriders.org.au/forums.html

Click on Forums and you can choose either Sydney, Melbourne or eventually Brisbane. Good in theory but not in practice, as no one is prepared to do the hard yards in Melbourne for example to push the forum as we have in Sydney.

We are after all NSW Riders and that covers all the areas you have mentioned.

Welcome to NSWR, Russ.

On occasion I ride with a guy who has lost his left arm and he can ride better than most able bodied people.

It must be so rewarding to reach the milestone of being back on 2 wheels again having been through such a life changing journey. I look forward to catching up with you in the coming months.
