PostSubject: Hello from Gunnedah   Sun Apr 18 2010, 09:56

I stumbled across this forum while looking for some mods on google last night, I thought "well I'm in NSW and I ride, maybe I can meet up with a few more NSW riders around the traps" so I joined up.

I'm 44 now, I rode mainly road bikes through to my mid 20s until the family expenses robbed me of my time and money.

About 4 or 5 years ago my son was old enough to get his bike licence so I took a little ZXR250 for a squirt, it all came flooding back to me and I was hooked again.

About the same time one of my mates bought a Harley, there was four of us sitting around talking and I said to one of the guys "well if you get a bike, I'll get one", well about a week later he pulled up in the drive way on a nice 2003 SV1000 the bugger, so as all honest gentlemen do I honored my word and bought a Buell XB9R off ebay about a week later.

I owned the Buell for about 2 years then upgraded to a GSXR1000K5, spent way too much money on it (but man what a rocket), done a heap of miles on it, always in pain by 250ks, completed a wish of doing a track day in Feb this year and then finally said enough is enough, I want to do some miles this year so traded (gave it away) it in on my current ride as pictures below.

Anyway I'll have a look through your forum and help out when I can, stay upright.

Stu

Good intro Stu, and nice looking bike. Can't say I've seen the colour before. Very striking.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Gingers is a great run, done it heaps and never get sick of it......maybe the east side, it's not what it used to be.

Last time we went across my son wrote off his GSXR600 just west of the cafe. They had been resurfacing and the pile of loose stones in the middle of the road got him as he changed his line for the corner. I asked him what happen and he said "it was a bit hard to tell because my visor came open and I was getting gravel in my eyes"......enough said. Insurance paid up and he is now on a GSXR750K7....lucky bugger.

The busted 600

and his new 750, as we get ready to head across the Walcha Road pub yesterday.

I will see what we are doing on the Saturday, we may get across there for lunch maybe. I'll check the thread and see what is going on.

Welcome to site Stu. Thanks for telling us your story, it's a bloody great tale. Glad your son's off doesn't appear to have caused him too much damage from the sound of it, and he got a bigger bike out of it Laughing

Not sure if I'm going to make ginger's...my 250 is not the most comfortable bike on long hauls...but it would be great to catch up for a ride some time. cheers

steveb, I haven't seen any other Aprilias around Gunnedah but I'm sure there would be a couple about here or over at Tamworth. There is a 125 for sale at Tamworth I know of.

We should be able to slip across to Gingers on the Saturday, the fuel range on the Tuono is low, about 175ks the light comes on so I don't know how many laps I'll get in before needing to head back to Walcha.

You can get premium at Gingers Creek.
In the middle of the action, don't need to run back to Walcha for fuel.

See you saturday, we will be the ones with the biggest grin on our faces!!!

I was there a few weeks back, that's where I fueled after doing laps all day!

Sadly I may not make it.(see the oxley thread)

Have fun on my behalf!
