PostSubject: Back after 23 years   Thu Apr 08 2010, 15:15

When I was very young, I started riding motorbikes. I got my licence on a Honda 90 and I remember it used to cost me 50c to fill the tank. My second bike was a big jump up - a Suzuki GT750. I lived in Newcastle and it was brilliant for those trips back to Sydney. I courted my wife on that bike. Soon after moving back to Sydney, I found the 750 too big and bought a Kawasaki Z400. When our first child was born, we were both strapped for cash and found that a baby capsule just didn't fit on the Z400, so it had to go.

When my twin boys turned 18 they both showed an interest in riding bikes. One son bought his own Yamaha Zeal 250 and I purchased the Kawasaki ZZR250 so that both boys could learn to ride. My 4th bike after a break of 23 years. The Zeal has been replaced by a Yamaha FZ6 and I've still got the ZZR 250. I'd like to get a bigger bike, probably a tourer but once again the dollars are holding me back. I'm looking forward to going on the Jenolan group ride and meeting other members ('Very Happy')

Good to have you on board gnu. Sounds like my story only my kids are still riding on the back - too young for their own ride as yet. I also started back into it with a 250 Kawasaki (GPX) and then made the transition to the awesome VFR800! Would highly recommend it as a next step up into the world of sports/touring from the 250. Plenty of grunt, speed, class with a little real world comfort thrown in for a 'no longer 21 year old' body! Budget remains an issue for me too and the VFR represents great value for money (in my totally unbiased opinion!).

See ya Sunday.

Welcome on board gnu. I do hope to see you on a ride soon.

By the way, I also ride a zzr250...albeit pretty bent and broken and held together with pieces of wire and duct tape. Do keep an eye on your panels when you come for ride won't you? lol! lol! lol!
